Part of the collection: ceramics
A gravy jug – a vessel made of fairly thick white-cream faience, in the shape of a cylindrical bowl. The handles were made in the form of two ancons, triangular elements ending in a volute. The painting decoration of the gravy jug consists of a six-colour decal of asymmetrical floral compositions, inspired by Rococo art. On two sides, there are asymmetrical and elongated compositions of stylised sea green ogees interspersed with two large maroon and blue flowers and four small branches. The entire composition seems to form fanciful garlands suspended at the rim of the vase, and the irregular field formed between them is filled with fine elongated mesh with fine brown dots. The tureen edge, foot and edge of lid laminated with a gold stripe.
On the back of the gravy jug, there is the maker's signature, stamped in brown “BOOTHS”, BOOTHS/SILICON CHINA/”FLORADORA”. Glaze thin and clear.
