Menu Frame The menu frame from the Potocki collection, made of partially embossed silver, is a product from London from the turn of the 20th century. The frame has a trapezoid shape with a flat handle, narrower at the end and extended at the part where it joins the frame. The handle is partially moving, attached on a hinge to the shorter side of the trapeze. The back of the frame and the handle are decorated with imposed neo-Rococo ornament (acanthus leaves, volutes, flowers) on a bush hammered background. A moving ceramic plate covered with matt cream-coloured and white glaze is placed in the frame. Depending on the position of the handle, the frame could be held in hand or set on the table. Embossing is imparting relief elements on a metal sheet. The pattern is created with the use of a hammer or a punch. The pattern is clearly raised above the surface, while the reverse side features the negative. Popular decorative motives include flowers of various types, leaves and volutes.
