Photograph of a member of the Częstochowa Grossman family (?)
1898 — 1920
Museum of the history of Polish Jews
Part of the collection: Photographs from the collection of Halina Kamińska (Mamelok) née Baruch
The full-face portrait of a woman wearing a hat with a long bright scarf hanging down against the background of a small building. The woman is walking towards the lens. On her figure lies the photographer's shadow - probably a similarly dressed woman, judging by the hat, whose shadow is visible on the dress of the photographed person. The signature on the back - French woman. - allows us to conclude that it was made by the hand of Stefania née Grossman; the handwriting resembles that of other photographs described by her. We can also risk a hypothesis that this is an image of Stefania jokingly signing her name in this way when, for example, she sent a photograph from a journey in France (see the next photo in the collection) to her cousin Diana Baruchowa, née Wolfson.
