Plate with the coat of arms of Pilawa

Part of the collection: ceramics

Popularization note

A plate with the Pilawa coat of arms A plate of milky-white porcelain from a dinner service made in the third quarter of the 19th century in the porcelain factory in Březová (formerly Pirkenhammer). The factory was founded in 1803 and from 1852 it belonged to Christian Fischer and Ludwig von Mieg. Its porcelain products were of high technical and aesthetic quality, considered to be the best in Bohemia. The plate is semi-subtle, decorated with gold stripes: wider at the edge of the collar, narrower at the rim. On the collar, there is the coat of arms of the Potocki family - Pilawa: a golden cross on a blue shield under a golden count's crown. A ribbon with the motto of the coat of arms: SCUTUM OPPONEBAT SCUTIS encircles the shield.
