RIDING CURB BIT, Arabian Peninsula (?), 19th/20th century
A decorative riding curb bit, presumably Arabian. It consists of fixed, ornamental cheekpieces and a mouthpiece. The mouthpiece has two cylindrical, thin sections, arched in the middle, connected by a small decorative ring, near which there is a large, oval ring, thickened at the top, used to control the horse's tongue. The cheekpieces have movable rings at the ends, and in the middle, they feature decorative spiral elements with small rosettes in the shape of a sun, connected by a simple, flat bar.
It comes from the historic equestrian collection of the Potocki family from Łańcut.
