Part of the collection: ceramics
A crescent-shaped appetiser plate with a flat well and a steep lip. The lip is decorated with an Art Nouveau-style painted motif of stylised poppies, set between two brown lines. The leaves, stems, and flower outlines are dark green and applied using a stencil, while the flower petals are hand-painted with a burgundy-red paint. The lip pattern consists of four fully open, cup-like flowers on short stems, surrounded by two leaves and eight developing buds. The buds are intertwined in pairs with long, flexible stems, creating a continuous ornament. The lower part of the ornament slightly overlaps the plate's surface. Manufacturer's marks include an anchor within an oval with the inscription S.B. and S /ENGLAND underneath, and the ordering store’s signature SOUTH AUDLEY ST/ T. GOODE & Co/ LONDON. W.
