Glass with a castle motif
18th century
Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Glass
The drinking flute was made in an unspecified Polish glass factory circa 1800. It is made of thick, clear glass with a slender, conical bowl set on a square, heavy, stepped, cut-glass foot. Half of the bowl is carved in a diagonal chessboard pattern with alternating matte and clear fields with a star motif in the centre. Above the pattern, there is a narrow strip of fine, oval facets; the rim of the glass is bevelled. In the collection of the Łańcut Castle museum, there are five such drinking glasses. Barbara Trojnar
