Part of the collection: Ritual goblets and mugs in the collection of the Polin Museum
A Pesach mug in the form of a small tankard, made of transparent glass. The central part of the belly, opposite the handle, bears the inscription פֶּסַח (Heb. Pesach). The inscription was made in a special form for casting; the same technique was used to create the ornaments surrounding the letters. On both sides of the inscription, two six-pointed stars of David are visible opposite each other; in the centre of each of the stars, a similar smaller one can be seen. The stars are surrounded with a wreath of small stars. A crenelation pattern is cast along the entire outflow lip edge. The handle is blocky, rectangular.
Donated by Anna Terlecka-Romanowicz. The mug was found by the donor’s grandfather, Czesław Komodziński, near Dzika Street, during the removal of rubble from the ruins of the Warsaw Ghetto in the early 1950s.
