Vase

Part of the collection: Rzeźby

Popularization note

A small vase measuring 18 cm, crafted from two types of marble. The bowl, in shades of grey and brown, is round. It narrows at the bottom with a distinct constriction and is adorned with a ring at mid-height. The rim of the vessel forms an outward-turned lip. The bowl is set on an eight-leaf foot decorated with acanthus leaves. At three-quarters of its height, the foot is also embellished with a ring. Above this, the base transitions into a short, smooth neck that widens upward and ends

in the form of a spherical segment adorned with a "bull's-eye" ornament. The entire structure rests on two square, cuboid pedestals.

The vase can be viewed on the first floor of the exhibition in the Red Corridor. It is displayed on a secretary desk, with a 19th-century copy of Rembrandt's "The Jewish Bride" hanging above it.
