Part of the collection: Selected objects with the motif of the Star of David
This yad was made in 1894 in Russia. Unfortunately, we know neither its history nor the author who left the initial 'KP'. It has a typical shape: the handle is divided into two parts. The tip has the form of a palm of a hand with an extended, ringed index finger. The rest of the handle is decorated with two spiral threads, ending in a flattened nodus (a decorative bulge on the body of a liturgical vessel), openwork in the upper part. The next part of the shaft, beginning after the openwork, is deeply fluted (shallow, concavely vertically grooved shaft, decorated on the entire length of e.g. a column) of the column, with a star in its middle. End in the form of a flattened nodus, even larger than the one in the middle, decorated with a turquoise stone; on the top; a tridimensional lion standing on its hind leg, with its head turned backwards. Donated by Marcin Boczek, a hobbyist sculptor.
