The team includes various objects related to many aspects of the life of the Amazon Indians, both everyday and ceremonial. They come from various Indian cultures: Shipibo and Witoto from Peru, Ye'kuana, Hiwi and Piaroa from Venezuela, Tukúna from Brazil and Kofán from Colombia. They were created in the 20th century, mainly in its second half. The Amazon Indians are miner cultures whose economy is based on farming, hunting, fishing and gathering. Their traditional production is based on plaiting, pottery, carving and weaving. Their handicraft products are typically utility items, rooted in their life and culture. In order to understand their artistry, one should look at them in many dimensions, taking into account the native point of view. Indians create items depending on their needs, often using materials available in their environment.
