Posthumous photograph of Benedykt Tyszkiewicz

Part of the collection: Photography

Popularization note

It is a posthumous photograph of Count Benedykt Tyszkiewicz taken in the autumn of 1939 (after his death on 13th October), most probably by his brother-in-law, Prince Andrzej Lubomirski. Before 1917, Count Tyszkiewicz was one of the largest tycoons of the sugar industry in Russia. As a result of the Bolshevik Revolution, he lost all his property and moved with his family to the estate of his wife, Maria, née Lubomirska, in Poręba Wielka near Oświęcim.

The photo comes from the album of the Lubomirski princes from Przeworsk.
