Henryk and Benedykt Tyszkiewicz in Cracow

The photograph was taken in the Main Market Square in Cracow at the line of tenement houses A-B (northern frontage). In the right corner of the photo, there is visible a fragment of St. Mary's Church.

On the right side, there is Count Benedykt Tyszkiewicz, from the so-called Andruszówka line of the Tyszkiewicz family. He owned an estate in Zielona (part of Andruszówka), a sugar factory in Pliskov (former Kyiv Governorate), a machine factory in Berdyczów and other huge land estates. He was counted among the most influential industrialists in the Russian Empire, but he lost everything in the revolution of 1917. He married Maria Lubomirska, daughter of Jerzy and Cecylia, née Zamoyska, sister of Andrzej Lubomirski. In the photo, he is accompanied by his son, Henryk Tyszkiewicz. Benedykt Tyszkiewicz spent the last years of his life on his wife's estate in Poręba Wielka near Oświęcim. The photograph comes from the interwar period.
