A letter

Part of the collection: Correspondence from Emilia Endler Ratz

Popularization note

The letter from Halina Altman on three pages, written further down the page with a letter from Anatol Seletsky. From the contents of the friend's letter: With me everything is going normally, i.e. we are moving further and further west, deeper into Germany. The towns and villages are completely deserted, there is not a single civilian anywhere. Occasionally one encounters Poles, Russians who were deported for work and who managed to escape from the Germans (they are rushing everyone with them towards Berlin). The Frisians are still defending themselves with their last strength. But nothing will help them now, they can see that too. From a humorous letter from Selecki: Dear Mila! | I read a letter from You at Halina's and it angers me that You will not even send me a greeting. [Your Marcin (I don't know him personally, but I suppose he's a good lad) won't screw up your head. I await a few words | Selecki'.
