Rose Garden

Part of the collection: Photography

Popularization note

Rose garden. 1930s. The photograph depicts the fountain at the rose garden at the southern façade of the Orangery, established during upgrade works conducted at the Łańcut residence between the 19th and the 20th centuries by the third ordinary of Łańcut, Roman Potocki, and his wife Elżbieta nee Radziwiłł. The garden, arranged geometrically, has an oval basin and a sand pit with a marble fountain, being a free interpretation of the Alhambra fountain of lions. Behind it, on a narrow grass field, along the moat, among lush rose bushes, stands a marble vase, one of several similar ones, in the form of a chalice, on a stair-form plinth.
