Part of the collection: ceramics
A flat, faience plate with a gently raised rim. Shaped into six flat arcs, forming the outline of a barely developed six-leaf. It is adorned with a three-dimensional decoration in a concave-convex style, depicting a male pheasant against a landscape backdrop. The bird is shown on a meadow, with the right side of the composition including faint outlines of trees, clumps of grass, and a fallen log. The scene is painted underglaze. The vividly coloured pheasant strides to the left, turning its head back. The plumage on the chest and lower body is burgundy, while the wings and back are dark blue. The neck and head are yellow-brown, matching the plume at the base of the tail. The legs are outlined in dark brown paint. In the background to the right, colourless trees are visible. The sky is left in the pale yellow hue of the glaze The ground is lightly tinted with olive green. On the fallen log in the foreground to the right, two impressed initials, "AD," can be seen. The sky remains in the glaze's natural colour.
