Part of the collection: ceramics
A faience shallow plate with a gently raised rim, shaped into six flat arches. The concave-convex relief decoration depicts a duck standing on a small promontory amidst a watery landscape. The decoration is executed in an underglaze technique using majolica paints in dark blue, green, light brown, grey-brown, and celadon green colours. The duck motif occupies a large part of the composition and is positioned in the centre. The bird is shown from the right profile. A frog leaps into the water from beneath the duck's feet. Clumps of aquatic grass rise above the horizon, with two larger, grey-coloured tufts standing out. In the concave relief layer, a colourless flock of birds is visible. The duck is painted in multiple colours: its head is dark blue, the neck dark green, the front of the chest brown, and the wing is tricoloured, filled with brown, blue, and green. The legs and beak are yellow-ochre. The sky is left in the creamy-yellow colour of the glaze.
