Photograph of Max Mamelok

Popularization note

The portrait of Max Mamelok, about thirty years old, wearing glasses, a jacket, probably a dinner jacket, a white shirt with a standing collar and a white tie. From the signature on another photograph, in the hand of Halina, née Baruch, we know that he was a close relative of her husband, Józef Mamelok (we do not know, however, what exactly is concealed under this term of kinship). From the records of the Jewish Community in Wrocław preserved in the collection of the Jewish Historical Institute (1933, ref. 105/81), we know exactly where he lived in Wrocław - at Elsasserstrasse 8/10; who he was - the owner of a factory (Fabrikbes[itzer]); and when he was born - 19.11.1863. His wife was Eliza, née Brockmann, born on 27.03.1883, and his son Arthur Mamelok was born on 16.01.1908. (see https://cbj.jhi.pl/documents/186132/42/, accessed 22.07.2021; other Mameloks, most probably Max's family, are also listed in the records on other pages). | PK
