Medium height jug with handle and lid. The round profiled foot, with a flange, turns into a fruit-shaped body, ending in a collar, decorated with three types of ornament in a striped pattern: pearl, flower and string ornament. A hinged lid rests on the collar. Bow-shaped handle, finished (above the hinge) with a decorative little pinnacle in the shape of a human face and a place for thumb (for opening the lid). The top is decorated with a spirally twisted pearl ornament in a striped pattern. Each strip of the ornament is double profiled. The date ’1620’ engraved on the lid. Tin was once commonly used to make everyday objects (plates, bowls, jugs). This was due to its high availability, as tin was much cheaper than silver and it was easy to cast objects from it. Tin products began to be popular as early as the early Middle Ages, and were most widespread in the 14th–16th centuries, but in the 17th and 18th centuries they were still very popular, especially among less wealthy users. Tin jug from the museum’s collection, probably dating from the 17th century or later. The jug in question is exhibited in the Eastern Corridor of the ground floor of the castle.
