Hermés two-horse harness

Two-horse harness set Among the harnesses purchased by the Third Entailer, Roman Potocki, was a two-horse travelling harness made by the Austrian company Nideltz. Made of black varnished leather, it is a classic, high-end English-style harness with thin collar thongs, narrow, delicate back mounting, harnesses and rump mounting. The fittings of the harness are made of white metal imitating silver. On the eyelets of the head mounting and the back mounting, as well as on the braces of the rump mounting, there are openwork, heraldic emblems with the Pilawa coat of arms surrounded by a banner with the cry Scutum opponebat scutis. This harness, together with other Łańcut harnesses, was evacuated in 1944 to Vienna by Entailer Alfred Antoni Potocki, who was fleeing from the Red Army. In 1959 it was donated to the Museum by his widow, Izydora Potocka, née Jodko-Narkiewicz. Aldona Cholewianka-Kruszyńska
