The small bag

The small bag is made of a fragment of cotton canvas. The object consists of four fields and a distinguished bottom. Each of the fields is decorated with embroidery. The pattern in the form of a rosette made of a geometrised plant motif was made using cross-stitch technique. In the central part of each rosette there is a small flower, which is surrounded by colourful flowers and leaves and stems. The colours of the threads used to decorate each field vary. A rosette is also visible on the bottom. Here the initials are placed in the central part (in place of the flower). The bag is tied at the top with a string ended with a pillow, on which analogous embroidery is visible. The bag has a lining. There are numerous discolorations on the surface of the fabric, as well as some mending in places.

The pattern on the bottom resembles the initials L.V. . This most probably refers to Toni's daughter, Vera Lechtman. However, at that time Vera was still a child, living in Poland. At that time she used a version of her name spelled with a W. The initial may have been added later or may have been spelled this way for some other reason, unknown today.
