Description:
The one-story room in the west wing belongs to the original 17th-century vaulted interiors of the Łańcut castle erected by Prince Stanisław Lubomirski (1583-1649), the first of this family to own Łańcut. The interior, adjacent to the Entrance Hall, has a square plan and a barrel-cross vault in the key with an eight-pointed stucco polychrome star and pearls on the seams of the vault and at the edges of the window recesses. Two deep jamb windows face west. The entrance to the Chapel leads from the northern corridor through a double-leaf, partially glazed door. The second double door leading to the Ordinate's Cabinet sits in the middle of the north wall. The ash portals of both doors crowned with beams were made around 1830. The floor made of sycamore, black oak and plain oak with a pattern of triangles and bars, designed by Karol Chodziński, comes from the same period. A stove made of smooth grey tiles stands in the south-eastern corner with a frieze, a relief floral flagellum, and above the cornice with two pediments with the same motif. The permanent equipment of the Chapel includes a two-winged, wooden, polychrome altar cabinet from 1885, set in the middle of the southern wall. It was ordered by Maria Potocka née Sanguszko, the wife of the 2nd ordinate. She commissioned the Chapel's renovation duet to the wedding of her older son Roman to Elżbieta Radziwiłł that year. The wardrobe was to be decorated with the following gilded door panels: Potockis' Pilawa, Radziwiłłs' Trąby, Lubomirskis' Szreniawa, Sanguszkos' Pogoń and Czartotyski's Pogoń with the Tower - the coats of arms of Potocki wives from the Łańcut line
